Liquid Telecom was awarded Best ICT Development Project at the inaugural Zimbabwe Mega Project Management Awards, which took place on 20 December 2016 at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare.
The awards ceremony showcased business excellence and infrastructural development across Zimbabwe, corresponding to national objectives and economic development in the country’s ICT sector.
In addition, Wellington Makamure, Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe Managing Director and Group Executive for Southern Africa, was named Project Manager of the year.
In the ICT Infrastructure Development category, Liquid Telecom faced stiff competition from the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) and Powertel.
The event was organised by the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Zimbabwe (CIPMZ) which recognises Zimbabwean companies that have earned a reputation for coordinating innovative, sustainable and cost-effective projects in various key economic sectors.
Besides fostering competition in the project management space, CIPMZ aims to open business opportunities for project management firms and individuals in Zimbabwe through the annual Zimbabwe Project Management Awards ceremony.
“The Best ICT Development Project award caps a year of great progress and achievement for Liquid Telecom, during which we have continued to build new and critical fibre infrastructure across Zimbabwe,” said Wellington Makamure, Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe Managing Director and Group Executive for Southern Africa. “It is also an honour to collect the Project Manager of the year award and I would like to thank CIPMZ for hosting an exceptional evening.”Return to news
